Black Forest Folk Art, late 1800’s

Black Forest/Alpine folk-art carving. It features a bearded man holding a flat circular tray out in one hand, with a compartment on his back. The deep carvings are hallmarks of German/Swiss/Austrian “Black Forest” carving. The tray suggests this was meant as a small serving or card/calling-card holder.
