Japanese Lacquered Jewelry Box

Beautiful lacquered Japanese jewelry box. The pine trees, thatched roof huts, junks with birds overhead, and reed/rice-field motifs are classic Japanese export lacquerware scenes. It has a red flocked/velvet lined interior with a fitted mirror in the lid and a hinged tiered tray, brass ornate escutcheon (keyhole plate) on the front.
